TOPA | 3 x dance dialogues
'Topa' (meeting in Papiamento) is a triptych of encounters where inspiration, exchange and connection through culture, dance and music are central. An in-depth study of dance language is sought and mutual understanding is stimulated by learning more about each other's origins and cultural identity.
These sessions are an active voyage of discovery between dance and music to new forms inspired by musical challenges, personal connection and creative assignments from a cultural point of view. The sessions are accompanied by Remses Rafaela and with live music by Vernon Chatlein.

MI MAMA | foyer experience 11+
'Mi Mama' is an ode to the feminine power that Curaçao dance maker Remses Rafaela recognizes from the women of his youth and the woman of today.
In a theatrical dialogue between dance and live music, the viewer is taken on a quest that is about taking ownership of who you are, where you come from and what you stand for. For 'Mi Mama', Remses, together with three female dancers, dives into the world of women's experience, with the rhythm of the Tambú as inner and musical guideline.
Remses wants to create a complete experience that continuously takes the viewer along through dance and music in a setting that makes you forget for a while that you are in a theater. Curacao, Cuba, The Dominican Republic and a little West Side Story. 'Mi Mama' is an experience for more than the reasons mentioned above: the dance concert ends in a collective dance party in which the public becomes part of the experience led by a DJ.
'Mi Mama' will play in 2022. For more information click on the link below.

Two brothers have to go to bed, but they can't fall asleep. It's more fun to play on the iPad. But when it fails, the brothers fantasize about their own game. They chain, dance, vomit, break down the tent and make Papa angry. The hands of the clock tick away the hours. Eventually they fall asleep. Then the alarm goes off .
Remses Rafaela mixes acrobatics, hip-hop and Afro-Caribbean dance with slapstick and shadow play into an imaginative, energetic dance performance for the whole family.
Wijzer is a co-production of Maas Theater and Dans.
“Their body control is impressive when they 'dance' with a green chair that is much too big, it is great how they move in sync or mirror each other. (…) The performance is so topical, not because of the corona crisis, but because Wijzer celebrates the live experience.” Theater newspaper .
“The comic tone and appropriate movements make this a fun family show. One that children, but also certainly adults can appreciate. (…) If you are looking for a performance that not only entertains yourself, but also your child, this is a good choice.” Dance magazine .

***“Jungle Boogie steals the show at the summer carnival. The newcomers won the Queen election, 1st place for best show and 2nd place for best costume!” - The Havenloods
**“Rotterdam Priscilla Rehaen queen of summer carnival 2018. Rehaen, who is also a member of the carnival group Jungle Boogie, was still in the race for the coveted title along with seven others. The jury chose her because of her energy, charisma and because she included the audience in her story.” - Algemeen Dagblad

A PLACE OF RECOGNITION
&PURPOSE
In 2005 Remses came to the Netherlands for more possibilities and opportunities. But there was not always room for a young Antillean dancer. He experienced exclusion, judgment and resistance. There was no housing, work or financial support. He started to create possibilities himself. By looking for opportunities and building a network. It should be easier. Unfortunately, little has changed in 2021 for the talents who come to the Netherlands from Curacao, Bonaire or Aruba, in search of more possibilities and opportunities. And the Passion&Skillz Foundation wants to change that.
There must be a structural and integral plan aimed at creating a safety net so that positive impact in the long term can be guaranteed. This includes housing, social and mental support through coaching, talent development and the creation and utilization of employment opportunities and opportunities in the art, culture and entertainment sector.
We want to act not only as a connecting bridge, but an integral network of coaches, organizations and professionals from the arts, culture and entertainment who can inform, stimulate, motivate and inspire in collaboration, from the moment talent arrives until they are part of society with a resilient mindset and a full-fledged toolkit.
